· Product Development / Design Eggenberger Automation specializes in producing designs for
a variety of products involving: automation, robotics, instruments, medical /
surgical instruments, machines, complicated mechanisms, and high volume
products with: machined, sheet metal, and plastic molded parts. These designs
usually include provisions for electrical components, such as: circuit
boards, control panels, sensors, motors, and other devices. Eggenberger
Automation works with its clients to form a specification for a product it
intends to build, to provide insight in the early stages of development.
Conceptual designs and options are presented to the client. The design work
is done using 3-D modeling software. The final stages of design consist of:
producing a detailed drawing set, assembly drawings with instructions, bill
of material, design calculations, tolerance analysis, data sheets on
purchased parts, and any other documents specific to a project. |

· Refinements to Existing Designs Eggenberger Automation can be of assistance in completing
a design in progress or in making improvements to an existing design. A
prototype can be made into a cost effective, reliable, serviceable product
ready for manufacture. Eggenberger Automation has considerable experience
with manufacturing processes, and all that is required to develop a product ready
for manufacture. |

· Engineering Analysis As part of the engineering process, detailed calculations
are standard practice for designs. Calculations concerning: stress analysis,
statics, dynamics, vibrations, machine design, etc. are standard fair.
Calculations are presented in a formal report, with sufficient explanation to
clearly convey: results, limitations to a design, and general theory. In some
cases a client may only be interested in a study of an existing product,
machine, or mechanism, a detailed analysis can be conducted and the results
presented. |

· Testing Testing is also a significant part of product development.
A test plan is usually developed to validate a design. This usually involves
a study of the possible points of failure and development of fixtures or
other apparatuses to test these points of failure and to validate the
original design requirements. |

· Machining and Assembly Eggenberger Automation has the capability of assembling a
prototype for a design it has developed, as well as having machining
capabilities of its own. Refer to Facilities for more information. Eggenberger Automation has many
reputable vendors that it has experience with, including: other machine
shops, sheet metal shops, molders, and other special process shops. |
